RASA is a leading educator for non-MD allied health professionals who aspire to become a surgical first assistant. and seeking to assume the title of registered surgical assistant, to register with the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners as a surgical assistant. All patients should have a qualified first assistant. RASA’s goal is to ensure that all first assistants have completed a formal surgical assisting program. We strive to deliver a cost-effective, convenient and comprehensive educational path to achieve our vision, and yours of obtaining surgical assistant certification. The RASA team takes the educational component seriously. Applicants are who are foreign medical graduates with a Surgical Assistant Certified (SA-C) and/or individuals with a Registered Nurse First Assistant. We view ourselves as an extended part of the OR team. RASAs goal is to ensure that all first assistants have completed a formal surgical assisting program. Students knowledge and ethical principles to meet the standards of the demanding role of a surgical assistant, as defined by the American College of Surgeons. With our current and innovative teaching methods, our students develop the necessary skills through surgical assistant training.
